If republicans truly believe there should be no unemployment benefits, I have no problem with that as long as when they get laid off, they don't try to collect any government money. Republicans are only for no government interference when it doesn't affect them.

it's called INSURANCE for a reason. DID that employer really pay in that much? Seriously. I can't get which is worse, the Dems losing sight of a measure, just put them on WELFARE so that businesses don't have to pay for it year after year, this is an extention on a 6month PROGRAM. (Yes, I know it's tough times). OR the Reps/GOP who are slowing down a bill that could mean the difference of 200k or 1 million who've lost their homes, vehicle, cable, net, etc, because there is no job for them and quite possibly, instead of saving for that rainy day, the what if, they are now on empty and need welfare- for food lodging and the neccesities in life. You can say oh, the GOP are such a****** for stopping it. THEY are. But whose the real a****** not asking where the funds are coming from, when it's INSURANCE, by gov't, and employers.

but that's highlighting reality. Reality is there are MILLIONS of jobs lost, with MIllions not hiring. WHAT you want?- them on unemployment INSURANCE forever? What are the other Programs some Congressman dreamed up then on SOCIAL WELFARE? Crap?. Useless? So lets maintain the status Quo, lets just gloss over that fact, and the people ignore the underlying factor because even though the economic Anayizers say....2012-2015 it's looking up for those millions in 2010.

I chuckle every time I hear about "welfare reform" from a Republican because the states that receive the most welfare dollars per capita are ALL RED.

Does this program take in enough money to cover expenses? No, because it's a government plan, so if it falls short it just taxes the crap out of everyone.
A real insurance program would have fees high enough to cover.

The jobs are out there. But if they don't pay at least twice of what can be had on unemployment, then many lazy asses don't think it's worth it to work for a living. I've told many so-called friends to take a hike after loaning them $20 here and $50 there and then watching them turn down jobs for 12, 14 bucks an hour. "I'm worth more than that", they say. What a joke!

The republicans should be ashamed of themselves. They put partisan politics above those of people who are really hurting financially and emotionally as they cannot provide for their families. EXTEND UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS now and do not continue hurting ordinary people. There are no jobs so help us get through this until the recovery takes hold.

Our country needs a viable third party. A party representing ordinary people who have made this country what it is. I am fed up with the republican and democratic political parties. They are a joke and do our democracy a great diservice. They cannot get anything done.

Perhaps a revolution is needed from the ground up.

The Demos. need more balls. They are to afraid to be agressive on the issues, and no we should not provide free meal tickets for lazy people, but also we should not reward FAILURE and GREED by these business.
